Kamperland, formerly called Campen, was already an important place on Noord-Beveland in the Middle Ages. The Sint Felix Flood and All Saints’ Flood swept the old village away; after new dyke works it was rebuilt. Nearby is Veere, a historic fishing town with Scottish roots — the name Kampvere still recalls the ferry that once crossed to Campen. With Rondje Pontje you can even cross the Veerse Meer by boat.
